Kym Goodes - Director

Kym Goodes Bachelor of Social Science - ongoing, Post Grad qualification in Management (Public Sector) - Director

Kym has broad experience in the public and private sector, including eight years in management and senior policy roles in the Tasmanian Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services.

In education, Kym was instrumental in developing and implementing the Tasmania: A State of Learning strategic framework. Kym's work on this strategy focused specifically on the Guaranteeing Futures initiative and legislation, which requires all young people who finish year 10 or turn 16 to continue to participate in education, training and/or employment for a further two years.

Kym was responsible for and managed the broad consultation and negotiation with members of the business community, community groups, education and training providers, parents and carers and a range of State and Federal Government agencies. She then managed the establishment of operational teams in each region to implement the legislative requirements and range of Guaranteeing Futures initiatives.

In 2008, Kym managed the establishment of headspace Northern Tasmania, an integrated youth mental health and primary health service, under the auspices of General Practice North on behalf of a consortium of government and non-government agencies.

Once the headspace service was established, Kym returned to a senior role in the Department of Health and Human Services where  she developed the Youth at Risk strategy and framework. This work centred on the needs of adolescents across youth justice and child protection and included young people at risk of entering the statutory system.

Kym has the ability to successfully operate at a conceptual and strategic policy level, as well as having a strong track record in implementing programs and services at an operational level.

Kym is the chair of Cornerstone Youth Services in Northern Tasmania, and on the advisory committee for the Youth on Paterson service.
