Leon Jones – Senior Advisor

(Certificate IV in Training & Assessment)

Leon is an experienced Senior Workplace Relations Adviser, with skills in providing support, advice, and solutions on industrial relations and human resource issues to a diverse client base across a range of industries.

His HR practice is broad, and he is skilled in the areas of employee relations, performance/behaviour management, industrial relations, learning and development, and recruitment.

In addition to the various HR management roles, Leon has extensive business experience encompassing selling and relationship building, project management, people management/leadership and process development.

Industrial Relations
Specialist expertise in the following:

• Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards (NES) and Modern Awards and their application
• Long Service Leave, Anti Discrimination, Tasmanian Industrial Relations Act and OH&S legislation
• Industrial instruments (Workplace Agreements, transitional awards, Modern awards, employment contracts)
• Termination process- conduct and capacity, summary dismissal, redundancy, frustration of contract
• Advocacy and representation in Fair Work Australia Industrial Commissions, conciliations and hearings and anti discrimination commission grievances

Training- Learning and Development
Experienced trainer and assessor
Leon has a certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and is an experienced trainer. He has conducted training needs analysis, developed training plans, conducted performance reviews and designed tailored training programs. Leon has managed on the job training and development (coaching and mentoring) and facilitated self-learning programs. Leon's training experience includes:

• recruitment methods
• interviewing, training and assessment
• all matters pertaining to industrial relations including Fair Work Act 2009, anti-discrimination, bullying and harassment, performance and behaviour counselling and modification
• selling skills
• negotiation, management and leadership techniques
• interpersonal and communication skills.
